During this fasting is associated with a specific religious rites or was doing a diet. Now new evidence suggests fasting regularly is also good for heart health.
Researchers of the heart of the Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute reported that fasting is not only lower the risk of someone from coronary artery disease and diabetes, but also produce significant changes in cholesterol levels.
During this diabetes and have high cholesterol is known as one of the risk factors of coronary heart disease. Currently the coronary heart disease remains the leading cause of death.
In a recent study reported in the scientific seminar of the American College of Cardiology in New Orleans found that fasting regularly also reduces other risk factors for heart disease such as levels of triglycerides, weight and blood sugar levels.
“These new findings indicate that the study previously existing is not an event that happened,” said Dr. Benjamin d. Horne, PhD, MPH, Director of the cardiovascular and genetic epidemiology at Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute, as quoted from ScienceDaily.
Dr. Horne speak this new study noted biological mechanism the reaction in the body during fasting. Fasting causes the body to starvation and stress, as a response then the body will release more cholesterol which enable it to use fat as a fuel source and not glucose.
“These conditions will reduce the number of fat cells in the body. This is important because the fat cells are less in the body, will minimize the possibility of having insulin resistance or diabetes, “says Dr. Horne.
In addition to fast also help increase levels of good cholesterol (HDL), as well as create human growth hormone (HGH human growth hormone/) that works to protect muscle metabolic balance and respond more quickly to increase the amount.
If someone has a little exposed to the risk of diabetes and have the good cholesterol that more, then this condition will reduce the risk factors of coronary heart disease. Based on the results of this study Dr. Horne to believe a currently fasting can be prescribed as a treatment to prevent diabetes and coronary heart disease.
